Pick your adventurers and who you'll play yourself — the rest fight on their own. Then choose your foes and the battlefield.
An adventuring day is several fights in a row: add encounters to the roster separated by | (the foe buttons add one each). HP, spell slots and features carry over; after each victory you choose a short rest, a long rest, or to press on.
The character must be public on D&D Beyond (Character Settings → Privacy → Public). D&D Beyond doesn't let other pages fetch characters, so it takes one copy and paste.
Drag SoMT: grab character to your bookmarks bar (once). Then open the character sheet from here and click the bookmark on D&D Beyond: the character comes straight back to this page, and is copied to your clipboard too.
From a terminal you can also run npm run play -- --party 131588351, which fetches it for you.
Paste a monster's stat block — from the 2024 Monster Manual or SRD 5.2, a D&D Beyond monster page, or a 2014-style block. It's saved in this browser and joins the bestiary.
Pick a brush and click or drag on the grid. Blue and red marks are where the party and the foes start (without them, the sides line up 30 ft apart).

The autosave follows the battle you're in. Keep a battle in a slot to come back to it — before the dragon, say.
